Royalty Robbery: online 'libraries' giving free downloads of copyright books

I discovered by pure chance that my two biographies, published by Allen & Unwin in 2005 and 2008, are being offered up as 'free to download' for no charge whatsoever in the name of ... learning? Both books have received approx 9,000 views and 5,000 downloads. Imagine if I got a dollar, or even a pathetic 10 cents for each download! These books are still available to purchase in the normal manner. These illegal free downloads screw the author, the publisher and the bookseller. There is a form on the website to fill in if the book is in copyright and therefore not permitted to be distributed. I, and Allen & Unwin have submitted requests for the books to be taken down, we've done this several times - but to no avail. No response, no action. And it's not just minnow authors like me, there are current big fish names in the mix - their books made available by these thieving sharks. I'm so furious about it, yet am powerless. It's happened to me before, on a different website, but in that case my book on Edna Walling was taken down following my request. The rep from A&U tells me that this fraud happens all the time. It's not fair! - especially when there are easy legal alternatives. Books can be free in other ways yet also give a small payment to the author and publisher in recognition of being read - it's called your local public library. And if they haven't got the book you're after - put in a request and they'll get it in for you. - That's a win-win. Libraries are wonderful community places, and so are bookshops! Let's all help to keep them alive, these difficult times. ... An update to this posting: to learn a bit more about how I came across these illegal listings of my books, see below, after the picture.
The first time I discovered that my biography of Edna Walling had been freely made available on a website was because it showed up as a 'citation' on my Google Scholar page (I am an Associate of the University of Melbourne which allows me to list my written works in Google Scholar). I was curious about the site so clicked on the link - to find that my whole book was available there. The website offered a complaint form button - and when I filled in this form and explained the book was still in copyright, the book was taken down fairly quickly. That was about 3 or 4 years ago, when I joined Google Scholar. I don't know how long the biography had been freely available there. The second incident, in late June early July 2022, was discovered through a complete fluke. I was searching my step-grandson's name to see if he had uploaded any pics connected to his recent 18th birthday (I don't 'follow' him, as twere). His name is quite unusual, in fact maybe unique. Just a few items appeared concerning his cricketing and school debating achievements, along with a listing that I recognised as a sentence I'd put in the Acknowledgements section of my biography - his name as a new member of the extended family. I clicked on the link and discovered my book was freely available there; I searched my name and found that my biography of Dame Joan Hammond was also available there! I, and Allen & Unwin have filled in their report form several times, without any sort of action or acknowledgement. Their report form states: "This document was uploaded by our user. The uploader already confirmed that they had the permission to publish it. If you are author/publisher or own the copyright of this documents, please report to us by using this DMCA report form." I've just checked, both books are still there. It's really very depressing, and it's theft.
